2010 Utah Utes: College Football BCS Predictions
Fresh off a 10-3 season in college football betting odds, which was their second consecutive double digit win season, and also coming off their 7th consecutive bowl season, the Utah Utes have become one of the most respected and successful teams in the Mountain West Conference. In fact the Utes have become so powerful that they will be leaving the Mountain West after this season for the Pac 10. Utah ripped apart Cal of the Pac 10 in the Poinsettia Bowl last year 37-27after clobbering Alabama in the Sugar Bowl 31-17 the year prior. Online sportsbooks have Utah 100-1 in 2010 BCS predictions to win the national championship.
The Utes had 6 players drafted in the NFL last April. One problem with Utah is that their reputation is now national which means more casual public money from gamblers is floating their way, which has depleted their football betting value as they were just 6-7 against the spread in college football odds last year after covering 8 out of 12 games versus the line in 2008. Kyle Whittingham now has the program built on his terms after taking over for Urban Meyer when he departed for Florida after the epic 2004 undefeated season.
The offense that averaged 30 points per game last year will return 8 starters including sophomore quarterback Jordan Wynn, who took over midway through the season and gave a shot in the arm to the attack. Senior running back and 1st team Mountain West performer Eddie Wide is back after rushing for 1069 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2009. Heading into 2010 BCS predictions, the question mark will be a defense that has just 4 starters returning after allowing 20 points per game last year. The season will likely come down to home games against TCU and BYU in November along with a road trip to Notre Dame that month in a non conference show down.
